Around 40 diplomats are expected to attend the OIC’s weekend summit, with the Arab League’s extraordinary council of ministers convening ahead of the gathering. Araghchi is attending both meetings, where Israeli attacks on Iran are a central focus.

"The Foreign Minister arrived in Istanbul this morning to participate in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Foreign Ministers' meeting," Tasnim reported. Araghchi said the agenda would include “the Zionist regime's attack on our country,” according to the agency.

His visit follows talks in Geneva on Friday with counterparts from Britain, France and Germany. Earlier that day, Araghchi said Iran would only “consider diplomacy” if Israel halted its attacks.

Israel began its assault in the early hours of 13 June, accusing Iran of nearing nuclear weapons capability—claims that prompted immediate retaliation from Tehran in the most serious confrontation between the two states to date.

The Arab League ministers are expected to issue a statement following their meeting, Turkish state news agency Anadolu reported.
