In an official statement, the ministry emphasized that the opening date will be announced at the appropriate time through official channels, following full coordination with all concerned authorities.
The ministry also urged media outlets and social media users to verify the accuracy of the information they share and rely on official sources, particularly when reporting on events of such national and international significance.
The GEM's official opening was initially planned for 3 July 2025. However, due to current regional circumstances, the date has been postponed to the last quarter of the year.
According to the ministry, the decision reflects Egypt’s commitment to ensuring the event meets the highest standards and garners broad international participation that suits the museum's scale and importance.
The Grand Egyptian Museum, near the Giza Pyramids, is a monumental, architectural, and cultural project. It includes the complete King Tutankhamun collection, displayed together for the first time in history.
Once officially inaugurated, the GEM is expected to become one of the world's most significant cultural destinations, symbolizing ancient Egypt's legacy and modern Egypt's ambition.
