In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended Egypt's sincere condolences to the Syrian people and the victims' families, wishing a swift recovery to the injured.
Egypt reiterated its rejection of all forms of violence, extremism, and terrorism.
The ministry also emphasized the urgency of strengthening regional and international efforts to eradicate terrorism, cut off its sources of financing, and confront acts threatening peace and security.
According to Syria's Ministry of Interior, a suicide bomber opened fire on the congregation of the Mar Elias Greek Orthodox Church in Damascus during a Sunday evening service before detonating an explosive vest.
This attack marks the first known suicide bombing in the capital since Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) overthrew Bashar Al-Assad in December 2024.
