Much of Egypt is set to swelter this week, with soaring temperatures compounded by high humidity, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has warned.

From Tuesday through Saturday, conditions will range from hot to very hot and humid across most of the country. While the northern coasts are expected to be slightly milder, they will remain hot and humid.

Night-time and early morning temperatures will bring some respite, with more moderate conditions forecast.

The EMA cautioned that elevated humidity levels will significantly increase the apparent temperature, making it feel 2–3°C hotter in the shade than recorded by thermometers.

Morning mist and active winds are expected in areas extending from northern Egypt to Greater Cairo, northern Upper Egypt, the Canal cities, and central Sinai. The winds may offset the intensity of the heat and humidity.

In Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt, daytime highs are forecast to reach 35–37°C, with feels-like temperatures of 37–39°C.

Highs of 29–31°C are expected along the North Coast, with perceived temperatures of 32–34°C.

In South Sinai, highs of 38–39°C are likely, with apparent temperatures of 40–41°C.

Northern Upper Egypt will see 35–38°C highs, feeling like 37–40°C.

Southern Upper Egypt is forecast to endure the most extreme heat, with temperatures of 40–42°C and little distinction between actual and felt temperatures ranging from 41–42°C.
