Mahmud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza’s civil defence, told AFP: “Israeli occupation forces targeted gatherings of citizens waiting for aid... with bullets and tank shells.”
He added that at least 150 people were wounded.
Gaza’s health ministry said on Monday that the death toll in the Strip had risen to 55,998, the majority of them children and women, since Israel’s genocidal campaign began on 7 October 2023.
It added that the number of wounded had reached 131,559, with many bodies still trapped under rubble and inaccessible to emergency crews.
