Police said they dispatched security forces and ambulances to the scene after receiving a report of the accident. Both vehicles were found completely destroyed.
All casualties were taken to hospitals in Monouf, Ashmoun, Sers El Layan, Quwisna, El Bagour, and Shebin El Koum. Hospitals in the area were placed on high alert to receive the injured and provide medical care. Families of the deceased arrived to identify their relatives.
