El-Sisi, Canada PM discuss restoring Middle East stability

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney discussed, in a phone call on Monday, the latest regional developments and ways to restore stability in the Middle East, according to the Egyptian presidency.

During the call, El-Sisi highlighted Egypt's efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

He affirmed the importance of building upon the ongoing regional truce to reach a deal and allow the delivery of humanitarian aid to the strip.

"Establishing an independent Palestinian state, per international legitimacy resolutions, is the only guarantee for sustainable stability in the Middle East," the president stressed.

Both sides also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of economy, trade, and investment, to serve the interests of both countries.

Moreover, El-Sisi and Carney affirmed their commitment to working together to explore prospects for cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest.

According to the Egyptian presidency, El-Sisi congratulated Carney on winning the recent elections, demonstrating the confidence of Canadian voters.

President El-Sisi also expressed his sincere wishes for PM Carney's success, underscoring Egypt’s keenness to work with the Canadian government to strengthen cooperation between both countries.
