The decision aims to ensure public safety and expedite the completion of improvement works on the road while providing safe alternative routes, the Egyptian presidency said.
El-Sisi also instructed the Interior Ministry to take swift legal action against traffic violators and intensify efforts to enforce discipline and the law on all roadways, particularly regarding speed limits and vehicle load regulations, to protect lives and property.
Earlier Saturday, nine people died, and 11 more were injured in a fatal collision involving two microbuses on the Regional Ring Road in the direction of Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road in Menoufia Governorate.
Security sources attributed the crash to excessive speed by one of the vehicles, resulting in a direct and violent collision.
The Egyptian Ambulance Authority deployed 18 ambulances to the scene, transferring the injured to El-Bagour Specialized Hospital for urgent care, according to the Ministry of Health.
Initial reports confirmed nine fatalities and 11 injuries, with ministry teams continuing to monitor the situation.
The Public Prosecution has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
Labour Minister Mohamed Gobran on Saturday directed the General Administration for Irregular Employment and the Menoufia Labour Directorate to follow up on the aftermath of the collision.
He instructed authorities to urgently assess whether the deceased and injured were classified as irregular workers. If confirmed, families of the deceased may be eligible for up to EGP 200,000 ($4,196) each in compensation, while injured individuals may receive up to EGP 20,000.
Gobran extended his condolences to the victims' families and wished the injured a swift recovery.
The crash follows another incident a week earlier on the same Regional Ring Road near Ashmoun, also in Menoufia Governorate, where a transport truck and microbus collided, leaving 18 young women dead and three injured.
