The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) said mobile phone users would receive 1 gigabyte (GB) of free data, while fixed internet users would get 10 GB on their landlines.

In cases where fixed service remains unstable, users can alternatively receive 5 GB of free data on their mobile lines, the statement noted.

The NTRA emphasised its commitment to ensuring service quality and continuity and said it would take the necessary measures to prevent future disruptions.

A fire erupted Monday afternoon on the seventh floor of the main Cairo Ramses Central telecommunications exchange building in downtown Cairo, leading to widespread disruption of internet and phone services.

The blaze claimed the lives of four workers and injured at least 27 others, according to official statements.

Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit, although a full technical report has yet to be released.
