The Ministry of Health and Population confirmed on Thursday that no infectious diseases were detected after conducting laboratory tests on the five siblings who died this week in Minya Governorate.

The ministry stated that the tests—which included blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid samples—also confirmed the absence of viral or bacterial meningitis.

In a statement, the ministry affirmed that it also conducted thorough field and laboratory investigations, including visits to hospitals and health units. It also reviewed patient records, analysed infectious disease reporting data, and inspected the children's home and neighbouring houses.

Furthermore, the ministry confirmed that there has been no increase in infectious disease rates in Minya or in the village of Dalga, where the children died.

"No cases of infectious diseases were recorded among family members, relatives, or surrounding households," the ministry emphasised in the statement.

Moreover, the ministry noted that water samples from the children's home were found to meet quality standards.

It affirmed that the overall health situation is stable and poses no threat of epidemic or infectious diseases.

The incident reportedly began on Saturday, when six siblings from the same family started showing symptoms such as high fever, headache, neck stiffness, irritability, vomiting, and sensitivity to light.

The children were taken to the hospital. Shortly afterwards, four of them died.

The fifth child died on Wednesday, while the sixth child is currently receiving medical care at the hospital.

In response to media reports claiming that the children died due to meningitis, the ministry affirmed on Sunday that such claims are unfounded and scientifically unverified.

The ministry stated that there was no medical evidence supporting the occurrence of simultaneous deaths in infectious diseases.

Authorities continue to investigate the case to determine the cause of the five siblings' deaths.
