The Pharaohs will host the Ethiopian team in the seventh round of the qualifiers at Cairo International Stadium.

Since lifting fans’ ban after the end of the corona virus pandemic, games of both Egyptian league and national team are used to be played with a limited attendance in recent years.

Under the guidance of coach Hossam Hassan, Egypt lead Group A in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with 16 points from six matches with a five-point lead over second-placed Burkina Faso.

The Pharaohs could secure their ticket to the 2026 World Cup in September if they win both games against Ethiopia and Burkina Faso.

Meanwhile, Ethiopia come in the fourth place with six points from six games.

Egypt opened the qualifiers’ campaign with a 6-0 win over Djibouti before securing a 2-0 win over Sierra Leone in the second round.

Then the seven-time African Champions then defeated Burkina Faso 2-1 in the third round followed by a 1-1 draw with Guinea-Bissau in the fourth.

In the fifth and sixth rounds, Egypt defeated Ethiopia 2-0 before beating Sierra Leone 1-0 respectively.
