FM Abdelatty was speaking during an extraordinary session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers in Jeddah.
Israel, Abdelatty added, “disregards international law and norms by expanding its aggression against Gaza, using starvation and siege, and obstructing UN institutions in an attempt to break the resilience of the Palestinian people.”
By doing so, Abdelatty went on to say, Tel Aviv seeks to force the Palestinians into accepting the displacement “as a prelude to the liquidation of the Palestinian cause, which Egypt categorically rejects.”
The minister outlined Egypt’s efforts to support the Palestinian people, noting that Egypt has provided nearly 70 percent of the aid that has entered Gaza since the crisis began, amounting to 550,000 tons.
In addition, Egypt has admitted thousands of wounded Palestinians and their companions for medical care in Egyptian hospitals.
He emphasized the urgent need for Israel to allow aid deliveries immediately through all crossings without restrictions, pointing out that Gaza requires at least 700 trucks of aid daily.
He indicated that over 5,000 aid and medical supply trucks remain stranded on the Egyptian side of the border due to Israeli obstacles.
Abdelatty condemned the expansion of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip in recent days.
"Egypt holds Israel fully responsible for the continuation of the war and its deliberate disregard for mediation efforts,” in reference to Tel Aviv's rejection of the most recent ceasefire proposal after it was accepted by Hamas.
The proposal, mediated by Cairo and Doha and initially accepted by Tel Aviv, would have led to a deal for the exchange of captives and detainees, a ceasefire, and the immediate and effective flow of humanitarian aid to the strip..
In his speech, the Egyptian top diplomat called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and “exert all forms of pressure on Israel to accept the deal currently on the table, based on the proposal of US envoy Steve Witkoff.”
Meanwhile, the minister also condemned Israel’s continued violations in the occupied West Bank, including its announcement of plans to construct 3,400 housing units in the E1 area, as a flagrant breach of the Geneva Conventions.
He warned that such settlement expansion aims to split the northern and southern West Bank, destroying any prospects for a viable Palestinian state.
Abdelatty also reiterated Egypt’s rejection of Israel’s recent rhetoric about so-called “Greater Israel,” stressing that such notions reflect nothing but arrogance of power and will not be accepted or allowed by Egypt.
He cautioned that these ideas would only inflame conflict, expand its scope, and eliminate any chance for peaceful coexistence.
Reaffirming that the Palestinian cause remains a top priority in Egypt’s foreign policy, Abdelatty reiterated Cairo’s continued support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights and their pursuit of an independent state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also welcomed recent pledges by several countries to recognize the State of Palestine, describing them as a long-overdue and pivotal step toward realizing the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination.
At the same time, he urged other states that have not yet recognized Palestine to do so to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Abdelatty also echoed recent remarks made by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi that “Egypt rejects displacement and will not participate in this historic injustice,” which would “empty the two-state solution of meaning and prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.”
He stressed that Israel will not achieve true security or peace unless it responds to the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people, even if it “succeeds in normalizing relations with every country in the region.”
The OIC is the world’s second-largest intergovernmental organization after the United Nations, bringing together 57 member states spread across four continents.
It was established in 1969 in response to an arson attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, to safeguard Muslim interests and promote solidarity among Islamic nations.
The OIC’s headquarters is in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and its permanent General Secretariat oversees implementation of decisions.
