Despite a home victory over Ethiopia and an away draw with Burkina Faso in the African 2026 World Cup qualifiers this month, Egypt slipped a spot in the global standings.
The Pharaohs have already secured qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, leading Group C with 14 points, and are edging closer to clinching a berth at the 2026 World Cup finals.
Currently atop Group A with 20 points, five clear of second-placed Burkina Faso, Egypt need just one point from their remaining two qualifiers to confirm their place.
Under head coach Hossam Hassan, Egypt remain the third-highest-ranked African team, behind Morocco and Senegal, and second among Arab nations, trailing only Morocco.
Morocco climbed one place to 11th, overtaking Germany, who dropped three spots to 13th.
Egypt last reached the global top 10 after winning three consecutive AFCON titles in 2006, 2008, and 2010.
Their next official matches are scheduled for October against Djibouti and Guinea-Bissau in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers.
At the summit, UEFA EURO 2024 champions Spain rose one place to first, their highest ranking in the men’s game since June 2014, ending Argentina’s long reign.
Argentina, who had held the top spot since April 2023, fell two places to third, while France moved up one place to second.
Italy also returned to the top 10, climbing one spot after missing out last month.
