The Spanish queen’s visit, aimed at facilitating access to culture for disadvantaged segments of Egyptian society, is part of her and King Felipe VI’s state visit to Egypt.
During the visit, the queen inaugurated a photography exhibition featuring the works of Egyptian and Spanish photographers and attended a percussion show by young performers.
Queen Letizia’s tour concluded with a visit to the cultural centre’s jewellery and leather workshops, as well as the Sultan Qaytbay Mausoleum.
The queen was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Yomna Elbahar.
Cairo’s historic City of the Dead is a vast open-air museum, preserving unique Islamic architecture and offering insight into Cairo’s layered history, heritage, and cultural resilience.
On Tuesday, the royal couple arrived in Cairo for a four-day visit, accompanied by Spain’s Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, marking their first state visit to Egypt.
