The move reflects the broad support among IAEA member states for the agency's key role in global efforts to address the impact of the Israeli war on Gaza and its catastrophic humanitarian consequences, especially the massive destruction of health and service infrastructures.
According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the resolution was adopted by an overwhelming majority as 93 countries voted in favour.
The resolution comes as part of Egypt and Arab states' efforts to mobilise international support for Gaza's rehabilitation through the UN and international organisations.
It also reaffirms the IAEA's commitment to providing the necessary technical assistance to the Palestinians amidst the Israeli genocidal war, as well as contributing to Gaza's rehabilitation in technical fields, including health and agriculture.
Since October 2023, Israel has killed at least 65,000 Palestinians in Gaza, primarily women and children, and injured over 165,000 others.
The Israeli brutal aggression has caused widespread destruction across Gaza, devastating critical infrastructure, including hospitals, health centres, and essential services.
This large-scale damage has worsened the already dire humanitarian situation, leaving residents without access to basic needs and posing urgent challenges for recovery.
