According to the committee, which acted on directives from the Egyptian presidency, an extensive search led to the boys being found after they had lost contact with their family.
The older brother had carried his sibling for long stretches along the Rasheed corridor as they joined groups of civilians fleeing bombardment.
A committee representative confirmed that the children and their relatives were transferred to Camp Four, one of the committee’s relief centres inside Gaza, where they were reunited with family and declared safe.
They were provided with clothing and food supplies to support their recovery.
“I searched for my sons and found the elder carrying his younger brother, walking with him despite the shelling, and continuing with other civilians,” the boys’ mother recounted the ordeal.
“We thank President El-Sisi for his concern for my children and our family,” she expressed.
The video, widely shared online as “the Rasheed Road siblings,” drew intense public attention before officials confirmed their rescue.
The rescue highlighted Egypt’s broader role in relief operations for Gaza, which has delivered over 570,000 tons of aid to the territory over the past 700 days.
The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC), with over 35,000 volunteers, has coordinated 916 humanitarian flights and 599 aid shipments from 59 countries since October 2023.
Egypt’s aid deliveries have included 209 ambulances, 81,380 tons of fuel, and four field hospitals inside Gaza, along with two hospitals set up in Arish to treat the wounded.
The ERC has also supported Palestinian families in Egypt, providing over 85,000 family reunification services, cash assistance to more than 2,000 families, 137 relief interventions, and 244,000 medical services.
