Madbouly is leading Egypt's delegation at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The first event, held under the theme “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights,” brought together world leaders and senior UN officials.
Discussions aimed to explore the necessary ways to enhance the UN’s role and ability to address contemporary challenges, uphold human rights and achieve sustainable development, according to a cabinet statement.
Established in 1945 following World War II, the UN commemorates its 80th anniversary by reflecting on its mission to maintain peace, prevent conflict, promote development, protect human rights, and foster global cooperation.

The 30th-anniversary event for the women's conference, held under the theme “Recommitting to, resourcing and accelerating the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.”
The participants urged continued international commitment to women's rights, linking them to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event also reviewed the progress achieved since the historic 1995 Beijing Conference, highlighting accomplishments, best practices, persistent gaps, and ongoing challenges in advancing gender equality worldwide.
The event also demonstrated the continued international commitment to protecting and promoting women’s rights, in alignment with efforts to achieve the SDGs, particularly gender equality and women’s empowerment.
In 1995, the Fourth World Conference on Women adopted the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, committing to equality, development, and peace.
The cabinet statement noted that Egypt, which helped draft the declaration, reaffirms its commitment to women’s empowerment nationally, regionally, and internationally, especially amid current global challenges that require collective action.
On Sunday, Madbouly left for New York to lead Egypt's delegation at the 80th UNGA.
The Egyptian PM is scheduled to address the high-level segment of the 80th UNGA and the two-state solution conference.
He will hold bilateral talks with leaders of several countries and representatives of international organisations.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty is also accompanying the delegation and will hold meetings with his counterparts.
