The visit, part of Egypt’s broader push to strengthen African cooperation, included nine technical experts from South Africa’s central bank.

The delegation toured the CBE’s state-of-the-art currency printing house and cash centre, where they were briefed on Egypt’s operational model, automation technologies, risk protocols, and governance mechanisms.

“We are always pleased to welcome our African counterparts,” said Khaled Farouk, deputy governor for the Currency Printing Sector. “These visits reflect the CBE's leadership and the world-class standards of our facilities.”

The visit also included discussions on research initiatives and currency-related topics, with both sides exchanging insights on best practices and future collaboration.

The visit aligns with Egypt’s strategy to expand cooperation with African central banks across banking and regulatory fields, Naglaa Nozahi, an advisor to the governor for African affairs, said.

“We were delighted to host this distinguished group and look forward to deeper coordination with the South African Reserve Bank,” she added.

Meanwhile, Delia Sampson, head of the South African delegation, described the visit as “an unforgettable experience” that offered valuable insights.

“We hope this will pave the way for broader cooperation that benefits both countries and their economies,” she said.

The delegation was accompanied by officials from the CBE’s African cooperation, banking operations, currency printing, and security departments.
