In a statement on social media, El-Sisi said he valued the proposals Trump presented during his meeting in New York with Arab and Islamic leaders on Tuesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly as an essential foundation for future steps.
"I value the proposals he presented during his meeting yesterday in New York with several Arab and Islamic leaders. I view these proposals as an important foundation upon which we can build further in the coming period to achieve peace," El-Sisi said, praising Trump's efforts to stop the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip in particular and his pursuit of peace in the Middle East at large.
In a joint statement issued after the New York summit with US President Donald Trump, Arab and Islamic leaders — including Egypt — rejected any forced displacement of Palestinians and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to address the worsening humanitarian crisis.
The statement, shared by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, urged the return of displaced Palestinians, the flow of humanitarian aid, and laid out a broader roadmap that includes stabilising the West Bank, safeguarding Jerusalem's holy sites, supporting Palestinian Authority reforms, and advancing Egypt's proposed Gaza reconstruction plan with backing from Arab, Islamic, and international partners.
