The ministry said in its daily report the death toll has climbed to 66,005, around half of them women and children, with a further at least 168,162 wounded since the war triggered in October 2023. Its figures are seen as a reliable estimate by the UN and many independent experts.
Among the dead were 79, including six aid seekers, who were brought to hospitals in the past 24 hours, it said.
Two bodies have also been recovered from the rubble of the previous Israeli attacks, the ministry added.
Muhammad Abu Salmiya, director of Gaza City’s al-Shifa Hospital, says his team is committed to keeping the facility running as long as possible amid the escalating Israeli offensive.
“We are still providing medical services to the people of Gaza City, despite the ongoing invasion, the tanks approaching the hospital, blocking access, and the continuous shelling,” he said. “Our teams are committed to their duty.”
Israel’s military continued its offense in Gaza as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was in Washington and planned to meet US President Donald Trump on Monday.
Israel’s genocidal war has destroyed vast areas of Gaza, displaced around 90% of the population and caused a catastrophic humanitarian crisis, with experts saying Gaza City is experiencing famine.
