Presidential spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy said Sisi reviewed executive and logistical preparations during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy.
The discussions covered the final steps to complete the GEM project and development in the broader area.
Fathy highlighted substantial investment flows into tourism and noted that early indicators show rising demand for Egypt across multiple markets, attributing this to the expansion of tourism products, new promotional campaigns, and improved service quality.
El-Sisi underlined the need for the private sector to build on this momentum by expanding infrastructure, diversifying destinations, and targeting new markets.
He emphasized maximizing foreign currency revenues, strengthening governance, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability.
Plans to expand hotel capacity were also reviewed. Fathy noted the sector is achieving record growth, citing recent measures such as streamlined licensing for hotel projects and greater availability of holiday apartments to boost room supply.
The president also followed up on cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to protect cultural heritage and archaeological sites, and reviewed efforts to restore and upgrade services at museums and heritage landmarks.
He called for applying sustainable development principles in the management of World Heritage sites.
The meeting followed Madbouly’s tour earlier this month of the GEM site and nearby Sphinx International Airport.
The prime minister described the museum as a “great civilizational achievement” and emphasised the need for flawless execution of the opening ceremony.
Located 12 kilometres from the Pyramids Plateau and GEM, Sphinx Airport will serve as a “strategic gateway” for delegations and tourists attending the inauguration.
Madbouly said the opening marks a milestone in cultural heritage and a turning point in Egypt’s tourism strategy.
