Thursday, 9 October, public holiday on anniversary of October War victory
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly issued a decree designating Thursday, October 9, as an official paid holiday to observe the anniversary of Armed Forces Day, which commemorates the 6 October 1973 War victory.
The holiday, initially scheduled for Monday, 6 October, has been postponed, in line with the government’s policy of shifting midweek public holidays to Thursdays to create more extended weekends.
The decision applies to employees across ministries, government offices, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, and state-owned enterprises.
This year, Egypt celebrates the 52nd anniversary of its victory against Israel under the leadership of late President Anwar El-Sadat.
