The calls addressed the latest developments concerning efforts to end the Gaza war, where the Egyptian FM stressed the utmost priority of ending the war in a way that ensures the Palestinian people remain on their land without displacement.

According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s rejection of any plans to annex Palestinian territories, emphasising the necessity to preserve the unity of Palestinian lands in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip as the fundamental pillar for implementing the two-state solution.

The Egyptian FM called for concerted global efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, enhance the delivery of humanitarian aid, and end the catastrophic situation in Gaza resulting from Israeli practices.

He also reviewed Egypt’s intensive efforts aimed at halting the brutal Israeli war in the Gaza Strip and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, stressing the importance of initiating early recovery and the reconstruction of the Strip.

The Egyptian FM expressed Cairo’s welcome of regional and international efforts to end the Israeli war on Gaza, most recently those undertaken by US President Donald Trump.

According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, Abdelatty and his Qatari counterpart called for building on the regional and international momentum generated following Trump’s plan.

They considered the US President’s plan an opportunity that must be seized to halt the bloodshed and end the unprecedented humanitarian crisis facing the Palestinian people.

Both sides also rejected any attempts aimed at Palestinian displacement of demographic changes in the Strip, stressing the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state along 4 June 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

For his part, the Palestinian Vice President expressed his deep appreciation for President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s efforts to end the war in Gaza and safeguard Palestinian rights.

He emphasised the importance of capitalising on the positive momentum generated by Trump’s plan to put an end to the two-year humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Late on Friday, Hamas agreed to release all Israeli captives and hand over administration of the strip to a technocratic government in response to Trump's plan to end the Gaza war.

Shortly after, in a post to Truth Social, the US President said that Hamas' response to the ceasefire indicates the group is ready for peace, noting that Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that they can get the captives out safely and quickly.

Later in the evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said that Israel was seeking the immediate implementation of Trump's plan to free Israeli captives in Gaza.

"We will continue to work in full cooperation with the President and his team to end the war in accordance with the principles set out by Israel, which align with President Trump's vision."

However, Israel carried out dozens of attacks on Gaza overnight, killing and wounding Palestinian civilians, despite Trump's directive to Tel Aviv to immediately stop bombing Gaza.
