Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi
El-Sisi is scheduled to meet senior commanders at the NAC's Strategic Command Headquarters before convening with the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.
Earlier on Sunday, El-Sisi visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Nasr City, where he laid a wreath as a military band played the Martyr’s Salute.
He also greeted veteran commanders of the October War before proceeding to the graves of former presidents Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat and Gamal Abdel-Nasser, where he laid wreaths, recited Al-Fatiha, and met with members of the leaders’ families, according to Presidential Spokesman, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy.
Senior military officials, including Minister of Defence and Military Production and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Abdel-Meguid Saqr, and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, attended the ceremony alongside commanders of the main service branches.
The October 1973 war, also known in Egypt as the October Victory, is commemorated annually as a pivotal moment in modern Egyptian history, marking Egypt’s victory against Israel, which ended Israel’s occupation of the Sinai Peninsula.
Later, the Egypt-Israel peace treaty was signed in 1979 in Washington by late Egyptian President Anwar El-Sadat and then-Prime Minister of Israel Menachem Begin, following the 1978 Camp David Accords.
