The body is tasked with drafting a roadmap that sets clear objectives, assesses current challenges, and assigns responsibilities to ensure implementation, the cabinet stated on Sunday.
The move is in line with directives from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to prepare a comprehensive plan that enables national media to keep pace with global changes and strengthen its public role.
According to the decree, the committee must submit a detailed report within two months, outlining its findings, recommendations, and implementation mechanisms. The report will first be presented to Madbouly before being referred to El-Sisi.
Subcommittees will be formed as needed, each headed by a member of the main committee and allowed to draw on additional experts. Their reports will be submitted within one month of formation.
The committee will be chaired by Khaled Abdelaziz, Head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, with members including Abdel-Sadek El-Shorbagy, Chairman of the National Press Authority, and Ahmed El-Meslemany, Chairman of the National Media Authority (NMA).
Other members include Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation Essam El-Amir, journalists Adel Hammouda, Mona El-Hadidi, and Hamdy Rizk, Journalists Syndicate President Khaled El-Balshy, Media Syndicate President Tarek Saada, media expert Abdel-Moneim Said, and Hussein Amin, director of the Kamal Adham Centre at the American University in Cairo (AUC).
Businessman Tarek Nour, chairman of United Media Services (UMS), has also been named to the committee.
Several figures from Al-Ahram Establishment are among the members, including Ezzat Ibrahim, editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram Weekly and Ahram Online; Ayman Abdel-Wahab, chairman of the Al-Ahram Centre for Political and Strategic Studies; and researchers Mohamed Ezz El-Arab and Rania Makram Mahmoud Abdallah.
Journalists Nabil El-Sayed Ragab Omar, Farouk Gouida, Sanaa Hussein El-Beisy, Mohamed Salmawy, Abdullah Abdel-Salam, and Khaled Hanafy Ali were also appointed.
