The project is one of the largest and most significant urban development initiatives in Egypt and the Middle East.
The announcement was made under the directives of Egypt's political leadership and the close supervision of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, according to Urban Development Fund (UDF) Chairman Khaled Seddik.
Seddik explained that the selection followed a thorough evaluation process and field visits by the shortlisted consortiums, during which they assessed ongoing progress at the project site in preparation for launching the operation and management phase "with efficiency and creativity."
Situated in the heart of Historic Cairo, the Fustat Gardens project spans 500 feddans, making it the largest green open space in the Middle East.
The site neighbours the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation, Ain El-Sira Lake, the Religious Complex, and Amr Ibn Al-As Mosque, offering sweeping views of Cairo's most iconic landmarks, including the Giza Pyramids, the Citadel of Salah El-Din, and the city's historic skyline.
Seddik noted that the project is divided into eight main zones: a network of hills linked by water corridors, a cultural district hosting diverse artistic and entertainment activities, an antiquities and excavation area, an official events and Roman theatre zone, an adventure park, heritage gardens, expansive commercial markets, and an investment hub featuring restaurants, shopping centres, and hotels.
Described as a milestone in Egypt's urban development, Fustat Gardens is designed to offer an integrated environment that boosts tourism and preserves cultural heritage, dedicating approximately 75 percent of its total area to green spaces. The design also highlights architectural harmony with Cairo's historic identity.
The UDF expressed its appreciation for Egypt's leadership's continued support and reaffirmed its full commitment to delivering a model project in the management and operation of Fustat Gardens—one that fulfils citizens' aspirations and enhances the quality of life in the historic capital.
