The remarks were made during his visit to the institute in Paris, where he met with its president, the former French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang.
According to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty stressed the importance of preserving world heritage as a foundation for promoting diversity, mutual understanding, and human and cultural connections among nations.
He also highlighted the significance of the cultural dimension in Egypt’s foreign policy as a key instrument for building bridges with the international community, praising the longstanding cultural ties between Egypt and France.
During the visit, the minister toured the Cleopatra exhibition currently hosted by the institute, commending its artistic vision and its portrayal of the historical depth of Egyptian civilization.
For his part, Lang welcomed Abdelatty’s visit, praising Egypt’s vital role in supporting the institute’s activities and strengthening Arab–French cultural cooperation.
He added that Egyptian cultural events hosted by the institute consistently draw large audiences, reflecting Egypt’s special place in the hearts of the French people.
Abdelatty is currently in Paris to attend the elections for the director-general post at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) on Monday, in which Egypt’s official candidate, Khaled El-Enany, is running.
