El-Sisi’s remarks were made during his speech to the nation on the 52nd anniversary of the victory in the 1973 War of October 6.
The president extended his appreciation to US President Donald Trump for his initiative aimed at achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip after two years of war, genocide, killing, and destruction.
“A ceasefire, the return of captives and detainees, the reconstruction of Gaza, and the initiation of a peaceful political path conducive to the establishment and recognition of a Palestinian State – all mean that we are moving in the right direction toward lasting peace and deep-rooted stability, to which we all aspire,” El-Sisi said.
He stressed that peace imposed by force breeds only resentment, but peace built on justice leads to true normalisation and sustainable coexistence among peoples, noting that reconciliation, not confrontation, is the only way to build a secure future.
Earlier, in a Facebook post marking the historic victory, President El-Sisi congratulated the Egyptian people and the Armed Forces, recalling with pride the spirit of determination and unity that forged glory and safeguarded the homeland.
El-Sisi noted that "while the region is going through a critical historical juncture and witnessing intensive efforts to achieve peace, Egypt reaffirms its steadfast stance: lasting security and stability can only be achieved through a just and comprehensive peace based on the references of international legitimacy, guaranteeing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and opening limitless horizons for peaceful coexistence and cooperation among all the region’s peoples."
“May our beloved Egypt, and its great people, continue to enjoy well-being, security and peace every year,” the president concluded.
October spirit revived
During his speech, El-Sisi emphasised that commemorating this great memory is not merely for the sake of celebration, but rather to draw lessons and insights from it.
El-Sisi noted that the epic of October taught Egyptians that victory is not granted, but seized; meticulous planning, sincere and diligent work, coordination among state institutions, cohesion of the domestic front, and certainty in God's victory are the keys to triumph and glory.
“If these principles led us to victory in October 1973, then today, amid the successive crises our region is passing through, we are in dire need of invoking, recalling, and applying them as a steadfast approach in our political and social lives,” he said.
The president said that the regional situation can no longer tolerate complacency, and that the current circumstances demand shouldering responsibility and drawing inspiration from the spirit of October to overcome challenges and advance.
True peace justice
President El-Sisi said that Egypt and Israel fought fierce wars and military confrontations in which both sides paid heavy prices in blood and destruction.
El-Sisi affirmed that this hostility would have continued and deepened, if it were not for the foresight of late President Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat, the wisdom of the Israeli leadership at the time, and the American mediation that paved the way toward a just and courageous peace, ending the cycle of revenge, breaking the wall of hostility, and opening a new chapter in history.
“Egypt’s experience in making peace with Israel was not just an agreement, but it was the foundation of a just peace that cemented stability and proved that fairness is the only way to lasting peace. It is a historical model to be emulated in forging genuine peace,” he said.
The president reiterated the importance of preserving the peace framework established by the US since the 1970s, which has formed a strategic framework for regional stability.
He emphasised that expanding this framework can only be achieved by strengthening its pillars based on justice, guaranteeing the peoples of the region their right to life, and cooperating to end conflicts and unleash the region’s full potential for integration, prosperity, and growth.
“For peace to endure, it must be established upon the pillars of justice and fairness; it cannot be imposed or dictated,” President El-Sisi said.
Honouring October victory
During his speech, El-Sisi said that the nation stands in a stance of pride and honour on this glorious day, commemorating a day that is eternal in Egypt’s history and conscience, which added glory and honour to Egypt and to all Arabs.
“It is the day of the Great Victory, the day of the Crossing. The day when the world stood in respect and awe for the greatness and will of the Egyptians, and for the unity of the Arab decision,” the president said.
He extended his sincere salute to the soul of the great leader, the late President El-Sadat, a hero of war and peace, and a man of bold decisions and insightful vision, who led the nation with wisdom and courage toward victory and peace.
"We also salute the commanders of the Armed Forces, every officer and soldier, every martyr who ascended to heaven, every wounded who bled for the sake of the homeland, and everyone who answered Egypt’s call in that critical moment of its history, so that Egypt’s flag would forever fly high and proud,” El-Sisi said.
Building modern Egypt
During his speech, El-Sisi emphasised that from the spirit of October, Egyptians derive their determination today to build the New and Modern Egypt, a country that befits its stature and history, and deserves to be among the major nations.
“We are working with all diligence and sincerity to build a strong, modern, advanced state that manifests Egypt's true weight and its civilisational and human value in a world that only recognizes the strong,” the president added.
El-Sisi noted that Egyptians are building robust institutions, launching massive development projects, and reshaping the future, to establish Egypt in its proper stature, leading, advanced, and influential.
Concluding, the president assured the Egyptian people that the Armed Forces stand firm on their mission to protect Egypt and safeguard its borders, fearing no challenges.
“A national army, born from the heart of this great nation, whose sons carry their souls in their hands, standing as an impenetrable barrier against all difficulties and threats,” he said.
He saluted the valiant Egyptian Armed Forces, the righteous martyrs who gave their lives for the homeland, and the heroic soldiers who remain vigilant so that Egypt may sleep safe and secure.
