Egypt will bask in mostly sunshine this week, though early fog and a blustery Mediterranean will keep things interesting.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) predicts that Tuesday will feel slightly warmer than usual for October, with hot days and mild nights, and this trend is expected to continue for most of the week.

Temperatures will rise to 31–33°C in Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt, 29–30°C along the North Coast and up to 35°C in the far south, dipping to between 20°C and 25°C overnight.

Out at sea, conditions are less tranquil. A marine warning is in place for the Mediterranean from Matrouh to Port Said, including Alexandria and Damietta, with winds of 40–60 kilometres per hour whipping up waves as high as 3.5 metres.

The warning remains in effect until Thursday afternoon, so sailors are advised to wait for calmer waters.

From midweek onwards, expect more of the same: hot sunshine, gentle evenings and a hint of a cooldown by the weekend. Light showers may brush the North Coast and northern Delta on Wednesday and Thursday, while morning fog continues to blur the roads in Cairo, the Delta, and the canal cities.

Winds should stay mostly light, though they may freshen over South Sinai and the Red Sea, briefly stirring the surface.

Highs through midweek will hover around 30°C in Cairo, 27–28°C on the coast, and up to 37°C in southern Upper Egypt, which is warm for October, unless you were banking on jumper weather.
