The Pharaohs, who lead Group A with 20 points, will face Djibouti at 19:00 Cairo time (16:00 GMT). The match will be held in Morocco as Djibouti’s stadiums do not meet FIFA standards for international fixtures.

The Egyptian delegation is led by Ahmed Helmy El-Sherif, a member of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) board, along with Mohamed Yehia Lotfy, Chairman of United Sports Company, and fellow EFA member Tarek Abou El-Enein. Egypt’s ambassador to Morocco, Ahmed Abdel-Latif, received the team on arrival.

After the Djibouti game, Egypt will return to Cairo to host Guinea-Bissau on Sunday in their final group match at Cairo International Stadium.

Burkina Faso trail Egypt with 15 points in second place, while Guinea-Bissau sit fourth on 10. Djibouti remain bottom with just one point.

Egypt are chasing their fourth World Cup appearance, having qualified in 1934, 1990, and 2018. Morocco and Tunisia have already secured their places, while seven other African teams remain in contention for the remaining nine qualification spots.

Under the tournament’s expanded format, the four best runners-up across all groups will enter a continental playoff for one additional intercontinental berth.
