The 33-year-old sustained the injury during Ahly’s 4-2 victory over Kahraba Ismailya in the Egyptian Premier League on Saturday.

According to the club’s medical staff, El-Shahat requires at least seven weeks of treatment before he can return to full training.

El-Shahat had endured a slow start to the season but made headlines last week in the Cairo derby.

Coming off the bench in the second half, he scored the equalizer against arch-rivals Zamalek and won the penalty that sealed Ahly’s comeback win.

Ahly are currently third in the league table with 18 points, level with Masry and Zamalek, both of whom have played one game more.
