According to the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC), the national coordination body for aid delivery to Gaza, the convoy entering through the Karm Abu Salem crossing is carrying 1,600 tonnes of urgent aid, including flour, food supplies, and medical and relief materials.

Under the ceasefire agreement, 400-600 aid trucks are expected to enter the Gaza Strip daily.

Last week, Egyptian bulldozers started clearing rubble to expand displacement camps in central Gaza.

On Wednesday, after intense negotiations mediated by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the US in Sharm El-Sheikh, Hamas and Israel agreed to implement the first phase of President Trump's 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza.

Egypt has played a key role in delivering humanitarian aid to famine-stricken Gaza in the face of the Israeli blockade on the strip since October 2023.
