During the meeting, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and its efforts to protect Palestinian civilians and facilitate aid delivery to the Gaza Strip.
Abdelatty also reviewed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to implement the first phase of the recently reached Gaza agreement, stressing the importance of OCHA’s role in expanding the entry of relief and medical supplies.
Moreover, the Egyptian foreign minister outlined Egypt’s preparations to host the upcoming International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza in cooperation with international partners. He added that he looked forward to OCHA’s active participation.
For his part, Fletcher commended Egypt’s pivotal role in mediating ceasefire efforts and facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. He also confirmed OCHA’s commitment to taking part in the forthcoming reconstruction conference.
