According to the Egyptian Presidency’s statement, the summit brought together heads of state and government from across the region and beyond to express full support for the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement to End the War in Gaza, which was brokered by Egypt, the United States, Qatar, and Turkey.
The summit hailed President Trump’s leadership in advancing the peace process through his settlement plan, as well as the pivotal mediation efforts by Qatar and Turkey, it read.
It added that participating leaders also praised Egypt’s decisive role, under President El-Sisi’s leadership, in spearheading humanitarian coordination since the outset of the conflict and hosting the summit in Sharm El-Sheikh.
The discussions focused on mechanisms to ensure the implementation and sustainability of the Gaza ceasefire, including the comprehensive cessation of hostilities, completion of hostage and prisoner exchanges, Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, and the full entry of humanitarian and relief aid into Gaza.
The summit also witnessed the signing of a document by the mediating states in support of the agreement.
Participants emphasized the importance of initiating consultations on the next phases of President Trump’s peace plan — starting with governance and security arrangements, followed by Gaza reconstruction and the political path toward a lasting settlement.
The Egyptian Presidency expressed Egypt’s deep appreciation to all leaders attending the summit, noting that the high-level participation reflected clear international backing for peace efforts.
Cairo reaffirmed its commitment to working with regional and international partners to close this painful chapter in Middle Eastern and global history — one that saw humanity lose much of its compassion, the international order much of its credibility, and the peoples of the region much of their sense of safety.
“Egypt, which planted the first seeds of peace in the region nearly half a century ago, reiterated its determination to preserve the new horizon born in the City of Peace, Sharm El-Sheikh,” the statement read.
It added that President El-Sisi reaffirmed that Cairo will continue addressing the root causes of regional instability — foremost among them the absence of a just resolution to the Palestinian question — in pursuit of comprehensive and lasting peace.
President El-Sisi underscored that the Palestinian people have endured unparalleled suffering yet demonstrated remarkable resilience.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for their legitimate, inalienable rights — including the right to self-determination and to live in peace and security within an independent state on their land in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, under their legitimate leadership and along the 4 June 1967 borders, in accordance with international law and UN resolutions.
Egypt reiterated its vision for a Middle East free of conflict, built on justice, equality, good-neighbourly relations, and peaceful coexistence among all its peoples.
The summit was attended by leaders and representatives of Palestine, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Turkey, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, France, Cyprus, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Greece, Armenia, Hungary, Pakistan, Canada, Norway, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Japan, the Netherlands, Paraguay, and India, as well as the UN Secretary-General, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, the President of the European Council, the President of FIFA, and the former UK Prime Minister.
