This edition is dedicated to the renowned Egyptian actor Maged El-Kedwany.
El-Kedwany is a celebrated Egyptian actor known for his versatile performances across film, theatre, and television.
His beginnings are rooted in amateur theatre, which paved the way for his transition to professional stages, and eventually to television and film, where he continues to be acclaimed for his ability to portray complex characters with depth and authenticity.
While today he takes on major roles in films and TV series, his connection to the theatre has never wavered.
Short Plays Festival
As the name suggests, the Short Plays Festival presents short-format plays, including monodramas and works presenting two or three characters.
The festival is held under the framework of the Academy of Arts, led by Ghada Gabara, to support and encourage young creatives—both artists and directors.
The opening ceremony and first performance will take place on 16 October, followed by one play staged daily through 22 October. The festival will close on 23 October with a film screening and the announcement of the winners.
The jury is chaired by theatre director Mazen El-Gharabawy and includes actor Mido Adel, theatre director Eslam Emam, choreographer Karima Bedeir, and actress Sara Baraka.
