Security sources told the official Palestinian news agency WAFA that Israeli soldiers assaulted Salim Raji Hassan Abu Aisheh in the town of al-Ram, causing fatal head injuries.

Abu Aisheh, 57, a resident of the Jenin governorate, in the northern part of the West Bank, was later pronounced dead.

According to the Red Crescent, its teams received Abu Aisheh’s body at the Qalandiya checkpoint and transferred it to the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah.

Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli forces carried out a series of raids and arrests across several areas of the occupied West Bank, including al-Jalazoun refugee camp, north of Ramallah, as well as al-Bireh, Kafr Aqab north of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and parts of Hebron.

Troops also stormed the homes of recently released prisoners under the Gaza ceasefire deal, warning their families against holding any celebrations marking their release.

In a separate incident, Israeli forces arrested a child and his mother in the town of al-Issawiya, northeast of occupied Jerusalem, WAFA reported.

The Jerusalem Governorate said the pair, identified as Mohammed Sabteh and his mother, were detained after Israeli soldiers raided their home and searched its contents.
