During the call, Cooper affirmed Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s pride in participating in the historic summit and his appreciation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s leadership in ensuring its success and opening a new path toward regional stability.

The Egyptian and British foreign ministers stressed the importance of implementing the first phase of the Gaza agreement.

FM Abdelatty emphasized to his British counterpart that both parties must uphold their commitments.

He also underscored the need to launch the second phase of the agreement as part of utmost necessity of the faithful implementation of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan.

Abdelatty further underscored the urgent need to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip in quantities that meet the Palestinian population’s pressing needs.

Additionally, the Egyptian FM stressed the need for a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution defining the mandate and authorities of the proposed stability support force outlined in the peace plan, in full coordination with the Palestinian side.  He emphasized to FM Cooper the vital role that the UK and other permanent UNSC members could play in developing such resolution.

Abdelatty looked forward to the UK’s key participation in the upcoming International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction of Gaza, which Egypt plans to host in November in cooperation with international partners.

On Monday, the UK hosted an informal conference on Gaza reconstruction, featuring officials from the Middle East and Europe, as well as leading global financial institutions, to address efforts to reconstruct the war-torn Strip.
