The 52nd Egyptian aid convoy headed on Friday toward the Gaza Strip, carrying more than 4,000 tons of urgent humanitarian aid, including over 2,300 tons of fuel products, 1,000 tons of food baskets, and 700 tons of medical and relief supplies.

On Thursday, Israel said that the date for the opening of the Rafah border crossing from the Palestinian side between Gaza and Egypt would be announced at a later stage, and that aid would not pass through the gateway.

Shortly after, the United Nations (UN) called for all border crossings into Gaza to be opened immediately to deliver urgently needed aid, warning that reversing the ongoing famine under Israel's blockade will "take some time."

On 10 October, a ceasefire, brokered by Egypt, the US, Qatar, and Turkey, took effect in the Gaza Strip, under an Israel-Hamas agreement that stipulated allowing up to 600 aid trucks per day to enter the war-torn Strip.

However, the current number of trucks entering ranges between 350 and 450, depending on inspection delays and security conditions at the crossings.

The UN estimates that at least 800 trucks are needed daily to stabilise the unprecedented catastrophic conditions in Gaza.

On 22 August, the UN declared a famine in Gaza, the first in the Middle East.

Over the past two years of Israel's genocidal war, Egypt has remained Gaza's primary lifeline, delivering more than 45,000 trucks to Gaza, carrying over 600,000 tons of humanitarian supplies, representing around 70 percent of all aid to the Strip.

On 27 July, the Egyptian Red Crescent, the national coordination body for aid delivery to Gaza, launched the "Zad Al-Ezza: From Egypt to Gaza" initiative, as part of Cairo's steadfast commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people in the war-torn Strip.

The initiative included sending food, water, medicines, medical equipment, relief supplies, hygiene kits, shelter materials, baby formula and diapers, as well as ambulances and fuel trucks.

Egypt has also intensified its efforts to allow bulldozers and engineering equipment into Gaza to remove debris, clear damaged roads, and ensure the uninterrupted flow of aid.
