The 300-member upper chamber, re-established under the 2019 constitutional amendments, was elected in August and September.
Pro-government parties secured a sweeping victory, with the Mostaqbal Watan (Nation’s Future) Party winning 102 of the 200 elected seats.
The elections were conducted under a mixed system, with 100 seats allocated through closed-list proportional representation and another 100 through individual constituencies.
Voter turnout stood at 14.3 percent, with about 11.3 million of Egypt’s 63 million eligible voters casting ballots.
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi appointed the remaining 100 senators on Sunday, completing the chamber’s formation.
The opening session was chaired by the eldest member, Mohamed Abu El-Ela, head of the Arab Nasserist Party, assisted by the two youngest members, Mohamed Tarek Naseer and Ahmed Khaled, both under 35.
