The court is set to begin hearings on Sunday to issue initial rulings that could either exclude certain candidates or reinstate those previously disqualified. These rulings may later be appealed before the High Administrative Court.
Over the past three days, the Administrative Court has received 40 appeals from candidates across various governorates, including Cairo and Giza.
Urgent and intensive hearings will be held to ensure the appeals are resolved within the timeframe set by the National Election Authority (NEA).
The NEA announced the official list of candidates and their electoral symbols for both the individual and list-based systems, which will be published in the Official Gazette.
Candidacy registration closed last Wednesday at 2 p.m., marking the end of the eight-day submission period.
According to the NEA, a total of 2,826 candidates are running under the individual system, while four political coalitions have submitted closed-list nominations in the designated constituencies and they are “the National List for Egypt”, “The Popular List”, “The Call of Egypt List” and “The Generation List”.
Candidates wishing to withdraw from the race must do so by 25 October, with any withdrawals to be published in the Official Gazette the following day.
The electoral process will unfold in two phases.
In the first phase, campaigning will run from 23 October to 6 November, followed by a period of election silence.
Results from this phase are expected to be announced on 18 November.
The second phase will begin with campaigning from 6 to 20 November.
The final results will be announced on 25 December.
The current 596-member House of Representatives was elected in 2020 for a five-year term, which is set to conclude in January 2026.
Of the 568 seats up for grabs, 284 will be filled by candidates elected via the individual candidacy system, and 284 by candidates elected via closed party lists.
The president will appoint 28 members.
