President El-Sisi thanks Belgian King, EU leaders after inaugural Egypt-EU summit in Brussels

Following his return to Cairo on Thursday, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi extended his gratitude to King Philippe of Belgium for the warm reception in Brussels and for the strong bilateral relations between Egypt and Belgium on his social media accounts.

“I extend my heartfelt thanks to His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium for the gracious reception today in Brussels, and for the strong and distinguished bilateral relations that bind our two nations.” President El-Sisi wrote.

El-Sisi also thanked European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for hosting the first-ever Egypt–European Union summit, held within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two sides on Wednesday

The Egyptian president said discussions with EU leaders were “rich and constructive,” reaffirming the depth and growing alignment of Egypt-EU relations.

“I also express my sincere appreciation to Mr. António Costa, President of the European Council, and Ms. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, for hosting the inaugural summit between Egypt and the European Union within the framework of our strategic partnership,” he said.

He expressed his anticipation for the implementation of the agreements reached during the summit and announced that Egypt will host the second Egypt-EU summit.
