The Israeli occupation forces have continued to violate the fragile ceasefire in Gaza, killing two Palestinians and injuring several others in a drone strike on the southern city of Khan Younis, according to media reports on Monday.

According to Nasser Medical Complex, two people were killed when an Israeli drone was fired at Palestinians inspecting the ruins of their homes in eastern Khan Younis.

Local sources, cited by the Palestinian News Agency WAFA, said the drone strike was accompanied by heavy machine-gun fire from Israeli armoured vehicles stationed along the border.

Eyewitnesses reported intense bombardment and sustained gunfire in eastern Khan Younis, while Israeli warplanes carried out three air raids that destroyed several residential buildings, according to Al Jazeera.

Israeli naval vessels also fired shells toward the Rafah coastline, while troops demolished entire apartment blocks east of Gaza City.

Drones dropped explosive devices near displacement camps around Al-Shuja’iya Junction, causing panic among displaced families.

Despite the ceasefire announced on 10 October, Israeli forces have continued attacks across the Gaza Strip. Since that date, at least 93 Palestinians have been killed and more than 300 injured, according to health officials.

Meanwhile, the bodies of 464 additional Palestinians have been recovered from beneath the rubble in recent days.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the total death toll since Israel’s genocidal war on the territory began on 7 October 2023 has risen to 68,519, with 170,382 wounded, the majority of whom are women and children.

These latest attacks come as Gaza continues to face a severe humanitarian crisis under an ongoing blockade, with thousands displaced, infrastructure destroyed, and ceasefire violations reported almost daily.

International calls for restraint and accountability have largely gone unheeded, as Israel continues its military operations in Gaza against a population already struggling to survive.
