According to the invitation text, the museum stands as one of the largest of its kind in the world, narrating the history of ancient Egyptian civilization and representing a vital link between Egypt’s glorious past and its vibrant modern present.
The invitation highlighted that the GEM will showcase over 100,000 ancient artefacts, including the entire collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures displayed together for the first time since their discovery in 1922, alongside masterpieces from different dynastic periods.
The letter stressed that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum marks a defining milestone in Egypt’s modern cultural and architectural renaissance, situated near the Giza Pyramids Plateau and designed to symbolize harmony between heritage and innovation.
The invitation concludes with a message of anticipation and respect: “We look forward to your esteemed presence at this historic occasion, and extend to you our highest regards and appreciation.”
The invitations, issued under the auspices of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, are being delivered through Egyptian embassies and diplomatic channels to ensure representation at the highest political and ceremonial levels.
Among those formally invited are King Philippe of Belgium, the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Lebanese President Michel Aoun, alongside a wide circle of world leaders, cultural ministers, and international organization chiefs.
Egypt has also invited senior representatives from UNESCO, the African Union, and UN cultural agencies, in recognition of their long-standing cooperation on heritage preservation and museum development.
Officials said the guest list underscores Egypt’s intention to present the GEM not merely as a museum opening but as a global cultural summit, reflecting Egypt’s pivotal role in preserving and showcasing humanity’s ancient heritage.
The event will be attended by “prominent official delegations from numerous countries,” according to a cabinet statement.
Prime Minister Mostafa has been personally supervising the final arrangements for the event, which will include a formal inauguration ceremony, cultural performances, and guided tours of the museum’s galleries.
