Egypt, Romania sign defence cooperation MoU

Egypt’s Minister of Defence Abdel-Meguid Saqr met with Romanian Defence Minister Liviu-Ionut Mosteanu in Cairo, where the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance military cooperation and exchange expertise between the Egyptian and Romanian armed forces.

The two sides discussed issues of mutual interest and explored ways to strengthen military relations between Egypt and Romania.

General Saqr affirmed the depth of bilateral partnership and cooperation between the two countries. He emphasised the importance of coordinating efforts to achieve shared interests, expand areas of collaboration, and exchange expertise between the two armed forces.

For his part, the Romanian defence minister expressed appreciation for Egypt’s active and stabilising role regionally and internationally, voicing his aspiration to see closer military cooperation between the Egyptian and Romanian armed forces in the coming period.

Following the talks, the two defence ministers signed a memorandum of understanding on military cooperation, outlining key activities both armed forces aim to advance in the future.

The meeting and MoU signing were attended by Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, commanders of the main branches, and several senior officers from both the Egyptian and Romanian armed forces.
