Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner jumped from the edge of space Sunday, attempting to break a series of records which have stood for more than 50 years, a live broadcast showed.
The 43-year-old was expected to make the longest freefall ever, plummeting from an altitude of more than 24 miles (39 kilometers) for over five minutes, before opening his parachute at about 5,000 feet above the ground.
