Ahram Online breaks down the key narratives from the latest fixtures.

Ceramica’s stoppage-time winner shows title strength

Trailing Petrojet after Mostafa Badri’s first-half goal, Ceramica Cleopatra turned the game around late. Substitute Sodiq Awujoola equalized from the penalty spot in the 90th minute and then scored again in the sixth minute of stoppage time to seal a 2–1 win.

The victory took Ceramica to 26 points from 12 matches, maintaining a three-point lead at the top.

Beyond the result, their late resilience, bench impact, and solid defence underline their growing title credentials.

Ahly blink again as missed penalty proves costly

For the second straight league outing, Ahly were forced to settle for a draw, this time a goalless stalemate with Masry.

They created enough to win it, but the decisive moment slipped away when Ahmed “Zizo” Sayed struck the bar from the spot in stoppage time.

Ahly moved to 23 points and remained second, but the back-to-back draws (after Petrojet) have stalled their push to reclaim top spot.

With the Super Cup approaching, sharper finishing and composure in crucial moments remain their biggest concerns.

Zamalek’s reset takes hold under Abdel-Raouf

Zamalek eased some pressure with a 3–1 victory over Talae El-Geish, ending a five-match winless run.

Nasser Maher scored twice (5’, 49’) and Oday Dabbagh added a header (60’), giving interim coach Ahmed Abdel-Raouf a positive start.

Despite early injuries and a late concession, Zamalek showed greater organization and attacking intent.

The team climbed to third with 22 points and will approach the Super Cup with renewed confidence.

Pyramids’ steady climb continues

Pyramids defeated Ittihad 2–1 to reach 20 points from only nine matches, sitting fourth with multiple fixtures in hand on the leaders.

If they win those matches, they could move into serious title contention. Their defence has also been impressive, conceding only five goals, tied with Ceramica as the league’s best.

Relegation battle tightens

Ismaily earned a vital 2–1 comeback win over Kahrabaa Ismailia, lifting them to 10 points and easing pressure at the bottom.

Kahrabaa remain last with eight points and face increasing danger.

Pharco edged El Gouna 1–0 away despite their opponents finishing with 10 men, while Arab Contractors and Smouha drew 1–1 in another tight contest.

Wadi Degla–Haras El-Hodoud (1–1) and Ghazl El-Mahalla–Modern Sport (0–0, with a missed Modern penalty) reflected the fine margins shaping the relegation fight.
