Zamalek interim coach Ahmed Abdel-Raouf voiced confidence in his side’s chances in the Egyptian Super Cup, stressing that the team has navigated more challenging circumstances in the past than what they face currently.

Abdel-Raouf, who was appointed interim coach earlier this week, faces a tough task on Thursday in the Super Cup semifinals, where Zamalek will take on Pyramids FC.

Zamalek are grappling with a lack of stability on multiple fronts, in contrast to their opponents, who are in strong form.

In addition to the managerial change, Zamalek will be without their Brazilian star, Juan Alvina, who is sidelined with a muscle injury.

“We know we have a tough challenge ahead against Pyramids FC, but we are ready for this crucial clash,” Abdel-Raouf said at the pre-match news conference.

“The absences are significant, but I have full confidence in my players.”

“Zamalek are a big club, and this team has overcome tougher circumstances than what we are facing now,” he added.

Abdel-Raouf also highlighted the importance of Zamalek’s 3-1 victory over Talae El-Geish on Sunday, which ended a four-match winless streak in the league and lifted the team’s morale ahead of the Super Cup.

The win marked a successful start for the 39-year-old coach, who took charge of the team just before the game.

“I didn’t choose to become Zamalek's coach, and I didn’t know I would be appointed. But being the coach of Zamalek, even for one day, is a great honor,” he said.

“I want to help the team win titles.”

Meanwhile, Zamalek captain Omar Gaber acknowledged the club’s ongoing challenges but insisted the players are used to handling such situations.

“We are ready to perform well despite the problems,” Gaber said at the pre-match news conference. “As captain, my role is to unify the team, and we are determined to overcome all challenges.” he concluded.
