Venezuela took the lead through defender Marcos Maitan in the 18th minute, but the Young Pharaohs fought back after the break, with Ahly forward Hamza Abdel-Karim netting the equaliser.
Under the guidance of coach Ahmed El-Kass, Egypt began their World Cup campaign with an impressive 4-1 victory over Haiti on Tuesday, while Venezuela surprised England with a 3-0 win in their opening match.
Venezuela struck first, capitalising on a lapse in Egypt’s defensive marking as Maitan rose highest to power a header home from a right-wing corner.
Despite trailing at the break, the Young Pharaohs regrouped, and their persistence paid off in the 54th minute after Abdel-Karim met Mohanad El-Shamy's pinpoint cross from the left flank with a brilliant header from very close range to level the score.
The task was complicated when Egypt were reduced to ten men for the final half-hour after midfielder Mohamed Hamad was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge.
Goalkeeper Omar Abdelaziz proved pivotal in preserving the point, producing several sharp saves to keep Venezuela at bay.
With this result, Egypt climb to the top of Group E with four points, level with Venezuela, who sit second on goal difference.
England are third with three points after hammering Haiti 8-1 in the day's other fixture.
The Young Pharaohs will now seek a positive result against England on Monday to secure their passage to the knockout stages of the tournament, which runs from 3 to 27 November in Qatar.
