Polling stations at Egyptian embassies and consulates in 117 countries opened at 9am local time and are scheduled to close at 9pm, the National Elections Authority (NEA) said.
A total of 139 electoral committees are overseeing the process.
Due to time differences, voting has already concluded in New Zealand, where ballot counting is under way, the NEA confirmed. Polls have also closed in Los Angeles, while voting is wrapping up across several Asian and Pacific countries, including Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
The 2025 parliamentary elections are being held in two phases.
Phase one covers 14 governorates: Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, New Valley, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, Red Sea, Alexandria, Beheira, and Matrouh.
Overseas voting for this phase takes place on 7–8 November, with in-country polling scheduled for 10–11 November. Results are set to be announced on 18 November.
If run-offs are required, they will be held abroad on 1–2 December and inside Egypt on 3–4 December, with final results expected on 11 December.
Phase two covers 13 governorates: Cairo, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Menoufiya, Gharbiya, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharqiya, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai, and South Sinai.
Voting abroad for the second phase is scheduled for 21–22 November, followed by domestic polling on 24–25 November. Results will be announced on 2 December, and any run-offs will take place abroad on 15–16 December and inside Egypt on 17–18 December, with final results due on 25 December.
The current House of Representatives, elected in late 2020, completes its five-year term in January 2026. Under the constitution, elections for a new chamber must be held within 60 days before the end of the existing term.
The new 596-member parliament will comprise 568 elected members—half chosen through individual races and half through closed party lists—in addition to 28 members appointed by the president. One-quarter of the seats are reserved for women.
