According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty welcomed the ambassadors, expressing Egypt’s deep appreciation for its long-standing friendship with the peoples and nations of Latin America.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to building strong relations with various regional and global partners and emphasised Egypt’s pride in its historic, cultural, and humanitarian bonds with countries of the Global South — including Latin America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
The minister commended Latin American countries for their supportive positions on Arab causes, foremost the Palestinian issue, and thanked the Latin American members of UNESCO’s Executive Board for endorsing Egypt’s nomination of Dr Khaled El-Anany for Director-General of the organisation.
Abdelatty underscored Egypt’s priority to enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation with the region and to expand export markets for competitive Egyptian products as part of South–South cooperation.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening ties between business communities and chambers of commerce in Egypt and Latin America to develop a shared vision for mutual needs and identify concrete steps to boost investment and trade flows.

Moreover, Abdelatty highlighted the significance of the Egypt–Mercosur Free Trade Agreement, in force since 2017, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to removing any obstacles to trade and maximising the benefits of the pact.
The Egyptian FM also referred to ongoing efforts to establish a Brazilian logistics hub in the Suez Canal Economic Zone to serve Egyptian market needs and facilitate re-exports to Arab, Middle Eastern, and African markets. These efforts, he explained, aim to position the zone as a regional centre for grain trade, storage, and re-export.
Abdelatty further noted the importance of increasing tourist arrivals from Latin American countries to Egypt, highlighting the diverse attractions the country offers, including the Grand Egyptian Museum.
He called for intensifying high-level visits, activating existing political consultation mechanisms, and exploring new frameworks for economic and investment cooperation that reflect the potential and depth of relations between Egypt and Latin America.
The meeting concluded with Abdelatty affirming Egypt’s view of its ties with Latin American nations as a comprehensive partnership based on mutual respect and shared interests. He stated that he looked forward to the beginning of a new phase of fruitful political, economic, and cultural cooperation between the two sides.
